Y&G Heating, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Inc. is hiring a full-time G2 Licensed HVAC Technician to join our growing Ottawa team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, speaking with customers, managing service calls efficiently, and performing high-quality HVAC installation, maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work across Ottawa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of HVAC equipment, including central air conditioners, gas furnaces, boilers, burners, air compressors, packaged units, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and related heating and cooling equipment.

Key Responsibilities

‍

• Install, service, maintain, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment
• Service central air conditioners, gas furnaces, boilers, burners, air compressors, packaged units, and related systems
• Troubleshoot refrigeration, heating, electrical, airflow, temperature, and humidity control issues
• Use manifold gauges, temperature measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical circuits
• Handle, store, and recover refrigerant safely, where applicable
• Complete company service forms, job records, quote forms, and material lists accurately
• Check in with customers at the beginning and end of each service call
• Communicate professionally and build customer confidence in Y&G
• Manage daily service calls and complete work within assigned timeframes
• Prepare required tools, parts, and materials for each workday
• Assist other technicians on job sites when required
• Communicate with the office, estimator, field supervisor, or lead mechanic when support or repair quoting is required
• Participate in internal meetings and after-hours on-call rotation when scheduled

Successful candidates should demonstrate strong HVAC troubleshooting abilities, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently in customer-facing environments

• Basic refrigeration cycles and refrigeration circuit components
• Diagnosing refrigeration circuit problems
• Heating cycles, combustion theory, and combustible fuels
• Electrical theory, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting electrical circuits
• Temperature, humidity, airflow, filtration, and air distribution principles
• Residential and light commercial HVAC system components and routine maintenance procedures

Required Qualifications & Certifications

‍

• Valid G2 Gas Technician Certificate in good standing with TSSA
• Valid Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record
• Previous HVAC technician experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage time, follow schedules, and complete assigned calls safely and professionally
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, climb ladders, and work safely in residential and light commercial environments

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of HVAC service experience preferred
• ODP certification preferred or required for refrigerant handling
• Manufacturer equipment certifications considered an asset
• French, and or Arabic language skills considered an asset
